Match 4: Jersey vs. Slovenia

For the last game of the day, Slovenia were once again an unknown for Jersey. Having found some form with the bat at the end of the previous game, Jersey were looking to forge ahead early and give everything in this game.

Jersey's defence found sublime form and kept the Slovenians scoreless for the first 3 innings, all the while consistently scoring and building pressure on their Slovenia's defence. The Slovenians managed to hit back though finding some batting form and forcing some fielding errors from Jersey to score a number of runs in the next 3 innings. Jersey responded magnificently though batting through the order to bring home 8 runs in the fifth innings ensuring Jersey's first win at the European Championships.
Whoooo! Whooo!

Match 3: Ireland vs. Jersey

Jersey and Ireland have had previous encounters, but none so fun and jovial as the encounter at the Quayside public house the night before this game. Jersey won "Killer" on the pool tables, thanks to Julie Sangan, and as such held the upper hand coming into this ‘clash of the sociables’.

The upper hand was rendered null and void when Ireland took the lead with consistent run scoring and proceeded to shut out Jersey in the first 4 innings. Roles then switched when Jersey came good and their runners were being brought home while Jersey's defence were shutting out Ireland's batters. But it was all too late for Jersey as the Irish got to inning 7 with a commanding lead which Jersey had little chance to close up.

Match 2: Jersey vs Czech Republic

The draw has pitted us against the Czech republic next, so we're playing the two favourite teams in our first two matches!
The Czechs started well and managed to score well whilst shutting us out. We then upped our game and managed to shut them out for two innings ourselves, keeping the score down to 7 - 0.
Phil Bouchard took a couple of spectacular catches at right centre, a few millimetres off the ground, the other at full stretch and full flight in the air.

The rain then started and we struggled in the slippery conditions, whereas the Czechs took it more in their stride.

Final score: Jersey 0 - 21 Czech Republic.

Match 1: GB vs Jersey

Our first match and against the defending champions, what a way to start!
Jersey took a little while to settle, but then started playing well. We had been warned about a number of big hitters in the GB team, but we did not allowed them to intimidate us. We produced some good plays and limited them in the batting, but couldn't find enough with the bat ourselves to keep up.
Final score: GB 25 - 1 Jersey.
